Girl Box/Boy Box
For an exhibition I’m co-hosting this wednesday in Bristol. If anyone’s in Bristol, you should come along!
Some more deCloon concept/design stuff.
Here’s a few character designs from new web series we’ve been working on! It’s currently being animated over in Canada, which is a new experience for us since I usually do almost all the animation myself.
Set in the maddening heights of the Second World War, deCloon, a charismatic but ruthless soldier-of-fortune boldly accepts missions as high-risk as they are top secret.
Abusing contacts made through a lifetime of dubious hero work, deCloon mobilizes and demobilizes an elite unit of operatives for every mission he takes, assembling teams of specialists ranging from sharp shooters to Shakespearean actors to sushi chefs. Willing to put everything on the line except his own life, deCloon never fails to get the job done, even if it means losing his entire team in the process, which it literally always does.
So lock, load, buckle in, strap on and get ready for a frenzy of fast-paced fights for freedom. Because in a world threatened by Nazi rule, America needs a man who makes his own. Rules. (DeCloon).
So hey it’s been kind of dead on this blog lately huh? We’re working on quite a few projects right now but everything’s pretty secret right now so I can’t really post any of it online. But I can post this!
These are some initial character ideas for a series called Questules, set in the world of Greek mythology.
Found a bunch of sketchbook scans from an old project I did at uni a few years ago. Used some of these sketches to make a kind of art book about people at a party. It’s weird that even after 4 years or whatever I can still remember who I was drawing for loads of these characters.
Here’s a close up of some of those character maps in case anyone’s interested! Working characters out in this way has been super helpful to us.
I’m moving house so I took down my giant Buck and Rick timeline and Rajesh/Lone Wolves character maps.
I forgot how many big historical events we tried to tie in to the history of Buck and Rick.
The storyline has changed so much for it now that we need to put together a new giant timeline anyway but I intend to get even more dumb historical references in the next one!
I wanna ask where the hidden handgun is, but maybe I don’t. What’s your twitter mate?
It’s so well hidden it’s kind of gross and impractical. My twitter is @tommgran
Wow, I haven’t posted anything in a while! Here’s some Gunman Cards featuring background characters from Buck Shot and Rick O’Shay, our next project with Wildseed. In the world of Buck and Rick, kids collect these things like baseball cards and idolising professional killers is considered 100% ok.
Working out some ideas for a cartoon I wrote starring a Sailor Moon/Jem type heroine. Also trying to work out a way to use minimal colour well. Not 100% sure it’s working yet!
